HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR NORDIC WALKING POLES?

Poles, which are essential for Nordic walking, help to accentuate the natural movement of the arms and move the body forward. Follow the guide!

Nordic walking is practiced with special Nordic walking poles on flat or slightly sloped terrains.Their features will essentially depend on the frequency and hence the intensity of use.

In general, Nordic walking poles are made of a single tube. However, in some special cases, you may need telescopic poles.

WALKING FREQUENCY

The composition of the tube, the grip material, the type of gauntlets as well as the shape and composition of the tip will depend on how often you practice the sport:

FOR OCCASIONAL USE

Tube composed of aluminium

Plastic grips

Fixed gauntlets

Round steel tip

FOR REGULAR USE

Tube composed of 50% carbon fibre

Elastomer grips

Detachable gauntlets

Round tungsten tip

FOR INTENSIVE USE

Tube composed of 80% carbon fibre

Cork grips

Detachable gauntlets

Bevelled tungsten tip

SINGLE-PIECE POLES VS TELESCOPIC POLES

The single-piece poles have the advantage of being lightweight and not retracting during use.

To fit your height, they are available in 5 different lengths:105, 110, 115, 120 and 125 cm. To choose the right length, multiply your height in centimetres by 0.68.For example, if you are 1.67m tall, choose 110m poles because 167 x 0.68 = 113.56.

Telescopic poles with two sections may exceptionally be used for travelling more easily (These poles can also be used in clubs for easily initiating people of different heights to Nordic walking.
