HOW TO CHOOSE A PISTE SKI JACKET?

Ski jackets come in so many styles and have so many features that it can be difficult to make sense of it all! If you love piste skiing, here are a few tips to help you find your way around and choose the right jacket for your needs.

A SKI JACKET IS CHOSEN ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING 4 CRITERIA: WARMTH, WATERPROOFING, BREATHABILITY AND FEATURES LIKE A SNOWPROOF SKIRT AND REMOVABLE HOOD.

number 1

WARMTH

JACKETS FOR TEMPERATURES FROM -5°C TO -15°C

They will suit most users, especially skiers who are used to skiing at different periods during the winter. They can then adjust the layer 1 (ski underwear) and the layer 2 (ski jacket) to suit their needs and the ambient temperature.

JACKETS FOR TEMPERATURES FROM -0°C TO -5°C

Jackets for those who are often too hot or who want a light skiing jacket. They can then adjust the layer 1 (ski underwear) and the layer 2 (ski jacket) to suit their needs and the ambient temperature.

JACKETS FOR TEMPERATURES FROM -10°C TO -20°C

Ideal for those who are more sensitive to the cold, these jackets often have feathers and down inside. These jackets are perfect for skiing in cold weather in January but beware of the hotter spring conditions when skiing in April.

number 2

WATERPROOFING

waterproof
WATERPROOF: MEMBRANE AND SEMI-TAPED SEAMS

The membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. It is hydrophilic and prevents water from getting inside while wicking away the perspiration produced by the body inside

light rain
WATER-REPELLENT

The water repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in

waterproof
HIGHLY WATERPROOF: 10,000MM RATED WATERPROOF MEMBRANE AND TAPED SEAMS

In addition to the waterproof material, the seams are taped to enhance the waterproofing of the jacket. These are waterproof adhesive strips taped to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight

COATED

The coating is a kind of "paste" applied to the inner side of the fabric. It prevents water or snow from getting inside the jacket. It is an excellent way of improving the waterproofing of a jacket and staying dry

number 3

BREATHABILITY

ZIPPED AIR VENTS

Zipped air vents are added to the jacket at the chest and under the arms. The user can open them when they feel too hot.

BREATHABLE MATERIAL

It helps to wick away perspiration. This keeps you dry and prevents condensation inside the jacket

number 4

FUNCTIONAL FEATURES

SNOW SKIRT

The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with press studs at the bottom of the ski or snowboard jacket. It prevents snow and air from entering during practice and especially in the case of a fall.

REMOVABLE HOOD

A hood that can be removed to reduce wind resistance and make the ski helmet more comfortable to wear.
