SPORT IN THE MORNING OR SPORT IN THE EVENING?

It’s not always easy to find the right time of day for sport. In the morning, it can be hard to get up earlier before heading for work, while in the evening, you may lack motivation after a long day at the office. It is often easier to accept an invitation for a drink! But both of these times of day have their own advantages. Let’s take a look.

1. THE CASE FOR SPORT IN THE MORNING

The sun is rising, the birds are singing and the streets are empty. Every morning, everything seems to come back to life again.

Doesn’t this idyllic vision inspire you to make the most of it with a good session of early morning sport?

No. Don’t go back to bed! Believe me. It’s worth it!

As well as making you feel that you have made the most of your day, sport in the morning offer a number of advantages:

-You arrive at work feeling calm and relaxed.
-By exercising early in the morning, you will produce your fill of endorphins for the whole day. These are the hormones that combat stress and make you good-humoured. In a word, you will secrete happiness!
-You will lose weight. There is nothing better than an early morning run before breakfast to burn up superfluous fat. Right from the start of a 45-minute run, you will start using up your adipose reserves. A glass of fruit juice and let’s go!
-You will sleep better at night. That's right! As a general rule, it is inadvisable to do sport after 7pm, because the body cools down naturally as bedtime approaches. Sport obviously has the opposite effect, so it is preferable to do your favourite sport in the morning.

2. THE CASE FOR SPORT IN THE EVENING

Why bother getting up at daybreak, when it’s so snug in bed? After all, you will have all the time in the world for sport in the evening, after work.

Here are three reasons that back up your choice:

-Higher performance. What can you expect from a body that has just woken up after a long night’s sleep? By doing sport in the evening, you can use all your physical faculties, because your body is at the right temperature. In fact, your performance peaks at around 4pm. So make the most of it!

-You can work things off. Has the boss been at you all day long? Linda from accounts is doing her best to disturb you? Forget them all. Sport after work allows you to work off the stress that you accumulate in the course of the day. Whack that punching ball and think of whoever you like!

-The ideal moment for sharing. Honestly, who’s going to join you for a run at 6am? Sport at the end of the day is also an opportunity to share some good times with your mates or other members of the club.I have rarely seen team training sessions at 7am, before everyone heads for work.

CONCLUSION

As you can see, there is no clear answer to the question that this article asks. Each individual will choose a particular time of day, according to their own rhythm.

And what about you? Morning or evening?
